What is different about the Peptide Lip Shine 30 compared to the previous formula?

In terms of UVA/UVB defense, the Peptide Lip Shine treatment formula is SPF 30, PA+++ and still offers up to 40 minutes of water/sweat resistance. (The previous formula was SPF 35, PA++++, 40 min water/sweat resistance). All of skincare and makeup benefits you loved about the previous formula are further enhanced in this updated treatment formula. With increased peptides, it is more moisturizing on the surface of the lips, as well as more smoothing and plumping immediately and with continued usage. In addition to increased peptides, it still contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate from within, further supporting plump and smooth-looking lips, and powerful antioxidant Vitamin E to nourish skin while protecting from further free radical damage to help defend against visible damage and maintain overall health of the delicate skin on the lips.

Why was the Lip Shine treatment formula updated?

The change in formulas was due to the availability of ingredients from our suppliers. The specific mix of zinc oxide was changed and was increased from 6.6% of the formula to 7.8% to continue to offer effective UV defense.

Should I dispose of my Lip Shine SPF 35 lip shines to switch to the new formula?

Not at all! Lip Shine SPF 35 is perfectly safe and effective to continue using lip care and sun protection. When you are ready to re-stock your favorite shade or try out a new one, the Peptide Lip SPF 30 treatment formula will be available, and we think you'll love It just as much!

Will I still be able to repurchase any of the Lip Shine SPF 35 lip shines?

All current shades of Lip Shine SPF 35 will be discontinued- final sale effective Nov 1, 2024. Your favorite shades will then be available in the Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 treatment formula. With enhanced treatment benefits, we think you'll love this new formula just as much!

Will there be new shades in the Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 formula?

Can I use these with Color Balms?

Yes, we love a layered approach to sun protection as well as offering options to customize your look! Color Balms are a great color with sun and environmental protection option for lips, as well as cheeks, and eyes, in a natural finish. Customize your color and add shine by layering Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30, the ideal plumping and moisturizing lip treatment and gloss with sun protection. Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 treatment includes potent peptides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E for healthier, smoother, and fuller-looking lips. Apply color balm to lips first and follow with Peptide Lip Shine. Remember to reapply at least every 2 hours, and more frequently to maintain color and shine.

How often should I reapply?

As with all SPF products, reapply at least every two hours for continued sun protection, or as often as needed for color and shine.

How long does color last? / Are they water or sweat resistant?

Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is water/sweat resistant for 40 minutes. How long color lasts will vary based on activity, just as with many other lip gloss products.

Does the Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 formula carry a Skin Cancer Foundation seal?

Although Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30, like our previous formula, was formulated in compliance with the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal requirements, it has not yet been submitted for review, and currently does not carry a seal.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 chemical free?

Yes, Colorescience uses only mineral (also known as physical) sunscreen active ingredients, zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide in all our sunscreen products. These are the only 2 sunscreen actives the FDA recognizes as safe and effective. Colorescience has never and will never use any chemical sunscreen actives. Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 uses zinc oxide as the sunscreen active ingredient.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 reef safe?

Yes, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 does not contain any chemical ingredients. A sunscreen is reef safe if it does not contain oxybenzone and octinoxate. It is important to note that some reef safe sunscreens contain other chemical ingredients – avobenzone, octisalate, homosalate, octocrylene. Colorescience has never and will never use any chemical sunscreen actives.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 hypoallergenic?

Yes, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is hypoallergenic, making it a great option for sensitive skin.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 gluten free?

Yes, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is gluten free. People who have gluten allergies may experience sensitivity when using topical products. Total Protection™ is gluten free, and therefore, safe for those with Celiac disease. In addition, all Colorescience® products are 100% free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, animal testing, talc, dyes, mineral oils, drying alcohols & chemical sunscreen.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 fragrance free? Does it have a natural fragrance or a synthetic fragrance?

Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 contains natural peppermint flavor/aroma but is free of synthetic fragrances. In addition, all Colorescience® products are 100% free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, animal testing, talc, dyes, mineral oils, drying alcohols & chemical sunscreen.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 dye free?

Yes, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is free of dyes. Instead, Colorescience expertly blends mineral pigments, called iron oxides, and carmine to achieve color. In addition, all Colorescience® products are 100% free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, animal testing, talc, dyes, mineral oils, drying alcohols & chemical sunscreen.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 vegan?

No, in addition to iron oxides for dye-free color, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 contains carmine as a color additive.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 oil free?

Yes, Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is oil free. In addition, all Colorescience® products are 100% free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, animal testing, talc, dyes, mineral oils, drying alcohols & chemical sunscreen.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 non-comedogenic?

As Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 is applied only to the lip area, we have not conducted comedogenicity testing. For anyone with sensitivities we always recommend starting a new product by patch testing with a small amount of product to ensure.

Is Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 tested on animals?

No, Colorescience does not conduct any animal testing, and we are committed to the highest standards when choosing raw materials for our product formulations. We require non-animal testing statements on all raw materials before final formula approval.

Is the mica used in Peptide Lip Shine SPF 30 safe and ethically sourced?

The micas that Colorescience uses are ethically sourced from various parts of the world, including Japan, and the U.S. Mica is not a derivative of asbestos. Our mica vendors adhere to global regulations pertaining to the quality and safety of cosmetic ingredients. The mica used in Colorescience products is mined and processed to meet consistent standards of high quality, safety and aesthetics. Our mica meets or exceeds the standards for heavy metal and microbial testing.
